Working while you study is a great way to earn money and gain new skills, but itās crucial to find the right balance. Too much work can lead to stress and negatively impact your academic performance.Ā
Here are some tips to help you manage your time like a pro:Ā
Create a master schedule
Use a planner, calendar, or an app to block out time for lectures, study sessions, work shifts, and social activities. Apps like MyStudyLife, Trello or Notion are great for visual planning, while Todoist is perfect for creating and tracking to-do lists. Sticking to a routine is key!
Break down your tasks
Don't let big projects overwhelm you. Break them down into smaller, manageable chunks and tackle them one by one. You can use the Pomodoro Technique for this: set a timer for 25 minutes of focused work, followed by a short 5-minute break. After four cycles, take a longer break. This helps you stay focused and prevents burnout.Ā
SetĀ realistic goals
Be honest with yourself about what you can achieve. It's better to do a few things well than to overcommit and burn out.Ā
Disconnect to focus
When it's study time, turn off notifications on your phone and put it on 'do not disturb'. Create a dedicated, focused space for your academic work.Ā
