Introduction
The Business Foundation Programme offered at UWS London Campus combines academic and real-word business theories to teach you the skills and knowledge required to embark on an undergraduate programme in this field like the BA (Hons) International Business degree available in London.
The International Foundation programme is designed around three distinct areas: Core business subjects, English language modules and study skills modules. The programme has been developed to deliver up-to-date practical and professional skills, underpinned by appropriate academic theory, to produce students who are ready to undertake undergraduate studies.
About the course
The Business Foundation programme is taught by staff who have a significant experience both in academic and real-world business scenarios, the course will enhance your understanding of business theories and concepts, ensuring your knowledge is aligned to the needs of the wider international business community. You’ll learn about the standard business areas of business management, business sectors, human resource management, marketing, and finance as well as English and study skills.
Core:
- Business Organisations – 30 credits
- Business Operations – 30 credits
- IT Skills – 10 credits
- Study Skills – 10 credits
- English for Academic Purposes Level 6.2 – 20 credits
- English for Academic Purposes Level 6.3 – 20 credits
Optional:
- English for Academic Purposes Level 6.1 – 20 credits
Assessment is carried out through a combination of written exams, presentations, case studies, portfolio building and assignments over each academic level of the degree programme.
Number of hours in teaching activities: 360 hours – 30%
Number of hours in independent learning: 840 hours – 70%

What qualifications do you need?
We welcome UK and international students and consider all applicants on an individual basis.
- Age 18+
- Equivalent of 72 UCAS tariff points from equivalent SCQF Level 5 qualifications
- Applicants may also be considered with other academic, vocational or professional qualifications deemed to be equivalent
English language requirements
For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English language proficiency level. The qualifications below must have been gained within two years of the start of your course.
- Student with IELTS 4.5 with no component less than 4.0 need to do the 3 trimester programme
- Students with IELTS 5.0 with no component less than 4.5 need to do the 2 trimester

Upon successful completion students can enter the University’s BA (Hons) International Business programme and complete Honours Degree in 2 years 8 months.
