Dr Holmes’s research focuses on identity, and my thesis, ‘Development of the teaching-self in research-intensive universities,’ concentrated on the self-understanding of contemporary innovative academics, centrally positioning one’s sense of self and the self-narratives of multiple subjectivities and experiences. Dr Holmes’s recent research interests align with is coordination of the Living Well with Dementia module and the use of visualisations as a methodology. His interest in this area stems from both a professional and a personal domain.

Dr Holmes has worked in the NHS and private sector in the theatres as a Perioperative assistant across surgical disciplines. Most recently, he returned to support the Covid-19 triage team at St Barts during the pandemic and was involved in the vaccination programme at the Excel centre.
