London Restaurants with a Rooftop View

OXO Tower Restaurant, Southbank

Owned by the famous Harvey Nichols the OXO tower restaurant in Southwark was the first of their standalone restaurants. Sweeping views of the Thames and St Paul’s Cathedral complete an excellent dining experience. Serving a seasonal British menu created by fabulous head chef Jeremy Bloor this restaurant is not to be missed.  

Take advantage of their winter menu until the 31st March with 3 courses for just £40. A handpicked selection of seasonal British vegetables and desserts to help you forget about the cold harsh weather outside. 

The OXO tower restaurant also offers Afternoon Tea from £35 per person. However, bear in mind that they are not able to accommodate vegan, gluten-free, or dairy-free diets within their Afternoon Tea options, which is a shame as the views from this restaurant really are spectacular.

Aqua Shard, London Bridge

Serving traditional British cuisine pair the exquisite food with stunning views of the London skyline from Level 31 of the Shard, Western Europe’s tallest building. With restaurants based all over the world, this London restaurant showcases the area of Southwark in Central London. 

While the A La carte menu can be pretty pricey the Aqua Shard offers a few more affordable options. Bring along a friend and have a gorgeous afternoon tea for around £26 each. Or check out their lunch menu with 3-courses for only £34 per person, available from Monday-Friday.

Le Pont De La Tour, Tower Bridge

Experience delicious French cuisine in the view of Tower Bridge in Central London. While the inside of the restaurant oozes the Parisian chic of the 1930s the outside terraces face the Thames with stunning views of the city surrounding Tower Bridge. 

Try a range of French delicacies and take advantage of their set menu with 2 courses for £33 per person or 3 courses for £39 per person.

Plateau, Canary Wharf

If you love going for city walks then the Plateau restaurant is a great pit stop after a trip around Canary Wharf. Sitting on top of Canada Place opposite One Canada Square Tower take a lookout over the great London cityscape while dining on gorgeous contemporary French food. Sit out on their heated, covered terraces all year round or opt to sit inside and dine in their elegant main restaurant. 

In recent years Plateau has been committed to improving its sustainability by using ethically sourced food, reducing waste, recycling, and reducing energy and water consumption. 

Enjoy their mid-week set menu with 2 courses for £38 or 3 courses for £42. Or why not visit the Plateau for Saturday brunch with 2 courses for £38 or 3 courses for £35

Rick Stein's restaurant

If you fancy visiting a quieter part of London Rick Stein’s restaurant is located in the Borough of Richmond in a tranquil riverside setting. Speciality fish seafood dishes dominate the menu giving a nod to their Cornish beginnings and an experience of cuisine from Cornwall. 

Relax and enjoy a break from the fast-paced London life whilst watching the Thames River flow by and watch out for local British wildlife and birds. 

Rick Steins’s offers a set menu of 2 courses for £22.95 or 3 courses for £27.95 making this restaurant the most affordable on our list so far, however, this doesn’t mean taste and experience are compromised. We definitely recommend checking out this seafood restaurant.

Take a trip on one of London’s city cruises and experience London from a different point of view.  

Admire all the famous landmarks including Big Ben, the London Eye Tower Bridge to name a few all while cruising down the river Thames whilst enjoying some excellent British made food and live performers.

Located halfway between East Finchley and Muswell Hill in North London Indian Rasoi has long since been recognized as one of the most recommended Indian restaurants in London. Indian Rasoi offers a rich, diverse menu and is known for its Mughlai dishes often requiring intricate masalas and elaborate preparations to offer their customers the best experience in their restaurant. 

It is well known that Indian food demands an extensive knowledge of spices and their use to create the perfect blend of flavour and taste. Located in Whitechapel, East London the Tayyab restaurant serves a range of expertly prepared Punjabi dishes. People rave about their lamb dishes and this is usually ordered alongside a multitude of other dishes and sides creating a great atmosphere and sharing table. Family-run each meal is lovingly prepared to give customers the best experience and keep them wanting more. Dishoom appears on every Internet search when looking for affordable recommended restaurants in London. They have several locations around the city including Kings Cross, Covent Garden, Shoreditch, and Kensington. Each restaurant location is grand and elegant, influenced by old cafes in Bombay. 

Food served by Dishoom is exquisitely and expertly prepared with all dishes paying homage to Bombay. Well, seasoned, prepared, and cooked by the best chefs the range of dishes and curries is outstanding. This restaurant is definitely not to be missed. You can expect to pay between £20- £30 per person depending on the main dishes and accompaniments chosen. Check out their website here. 

Located in Marylebone, West London, Trishna offers a twist on Indian food not seen in many other restaurants. Focusing its dishes on the coast of India you can expect to find the use of coconuts, mangoes, light herbs, and fish. Their fruity, sea-themed take on Indian cuisine makes them stand out from the crowd.  

Trishna is also a hit with vegetarians and vegans as their dishes are not primarily meat-based and the majority of dishes can be altered to fit any dietary requirements. Enjoy a 3-course meal for £35 or a 4-course meal for £40. Check out their website here. 

Stick’n’Sushi has a variety of restaurants around London including Soho, Wimbledon, and Covent Garden. They proudly present a blend of Japanese traditionalists and a Danish anarchist in their cuisine. With nothing like their dishes seen before. 

Visiting a Stick’n’Sushi restaurant is about the whole experience and not just the food although their fresh sushi, yakitori sticks, and sweet desserts are something to behold. Build your own meal from their extensive menu, although this can quickly become expensive with some single dishes costing nearly £10 each.  However, their set menus and meals are great value for money and you can expect to pay around £25-£30 per person. Check out their website here.
