To achieve an MSc Information Technology, you’ll study 180 credits, including 120 credits of taught modules and a 60-credit master’s project.

    Learn how to design, build and manage databases that help organisations store, organise and use data effectively.
  • Information Systems Analysis and Design 20 credits
    Explore how information systems are planned, analysed and developed to meet organisational needs and support digital transformation.
  • MSc Masters Project 60 credits
    Complete an independent project that allows you to investigate a real-world information technology challenge and apply the knowledge and skills developed throughout the course.

We welcome applications from UK and international students.

You should normally hold a UK honours degree (2:2 or above), or an equivalent international qualification, in a non-IT subject from a recognised institution.

This course is designed for graduates from non-technical backgrounds.

We may also consider:

  • Applicants with an ordinary degree on an individual basis.
  • Applicants with relevant academic, vocational or professional qualifications.
  • Applicants with relevant industry experience.

Candidates may be invited to attend an interview as part of the admissions process.

English language requirements

For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English language proficiency level. The qualifications below must have been gained within two years of the start of your course.

General English language requirements at UWS: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic module (not General Training):

  • Overall score of 6.0
  • No component less than 5.5

Common equivalent English language qualifications

All stated English tests are acceptable for admission for both home/EU and international students for this programme:

  • CAE (Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English): 176 overall; no component less than 169
