What is MSc Sustainable Technology and Management all about?

Sustainability is an increasingly relevant concern of almost every industry operating now, so it is no surprise that the global market in environmental goods and services is currently worth around £3 trillion. The MSc Sustainable Technology and Management course is centred around the requirements of the manufacturing and services sectors, in particular. Using real-world examples to further understand the theoretical concepts taught, not only will this course address the strategic and operational challenges encountered by organisations that are conducting their practices in a sustainable manner, but it will also train you to find solutions to these problems from an engineering standpoint.

Now, more so than ever, companies are working towards adopting Net Zero targets by 2050, and are focused on developing sustainability strategies. Additionally, the United Nations has created Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) in an effort to reduce inequalities and improve society, economy, and environment. In order to do that, they require professionals who are qualified to lead sustainability initiatives and have the knowledge to improve the quality of sustainable operations. After completing this course, graduates can find jobs as Sustainability Managers, Principal Sustainability Managers, Sustainability Project Managers, Sustainability Programme Managers, Sustainability Consultants, Sustainability Analysts and, Senior Environment and Sustainability Managers. You should normally possess an Honours degree or an equivalent qualification.

If you possess a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, or a less, but appropriate qualification plus relevant industrial experience may also be considered for entry to the PgDip.

Progression from the Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) to the MSc is dependent upon successfully completing the PgDip.

For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English language proficiency level. The qualifications below must have been gained within two years of the start of your course.

General English language requirements at UWS

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic module (not General Training):

  • No sub-test less than 5.5

  • Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English: ISEII with the minimum of a Pass in all sub-tests
  • PTE Pearson Academic English: An overall score of 59 to 64 with no element below 59 (for programmes that require IELTS 6.0 with no element below 5.5). An overall score 65 to 75 with no element below 65 (for programmes that require IELTS 6.5 with no element below 6.0)
